Aberdeen Hostel is a comfortable place in which to base your stay, located in a historic building in a residential location, ten minutes' drive from the centre of the city.

Available are private double rooms, family rooms for 4, 5 or 6, and male and female dormitories. The heated rooms share bathroom facilities, and there is a shared kitchen, dining room and common room.

Laundry facilities and luggage storage are available at the hostel. The bus stop with a regular service to Aberdeen centre is a couple of hundred metres away. The Martitime Museum and Railway Station are within two miles.

Breakfasts and packed lunches can be ordered in advance, and there is a selection of shops and restaurants about 15 minutes' walk away. There are drinks and snack vending machines installed in the hostel.

Aberdeen's beaches and St Machar's Cathedral are nearby, while a little further away you can visit Dunnottar Castle and Crathes Castle.

Auch wenn der Hafen von Aberdeen primär ein Industriehafen ist, so lohnt es sich dennoch, dort einfach mal vorbeizuschauen und das geschäftige Treiben zu beobachten. Geprägt ist der Hafen vom Offshore-Business. Fast rund um die Uhr werden die Versorgungsschiffe für die Ölplattformen draußen in der Nordsee beladen, so daß man, wenn man sich für Schifffahrt interessiert, hier immer etwas geboten bekommt. Auch die Fähre zu den Shetland- und Orkneyinseln legt hier ab.

Marischal Museum

Dating from 1786, this is the largest museum in Aberdeen and is housed on the first floor of the granite Marischal College building. The two main permanent exhibitions feature 8000 years of regional history and there are displays relating to non-Western ethnography as well as Egyptian and Classical antiquities. Entrance is free and hours of operation are: Monday - Friday 10h00 to 17h00 Sundays 14h00 to 17h00

The City Sightseeing bus tours are provided daily between June and September with the first departure from Marischal College (09h30), Town House (09h38), Opp. Kings College (09h43), Beach Esplanade (09h51), Footdee (09h55), Duthie Park (10h07), Music Hall (10h14), His Majestys Theatre (10h17) followed by intervals of one hour. This 17.8ha park was opened in 1883 and is home to the Winter Gardens which features flora from all over the world, including large collections of cacti and bromeliads. There is also a Japanese garden. Facilities include a cafe/restaurant, play-areas, ponds and a bandstand which hosts bands in summer. Duthie Park is open daily from 08h00 until one hour pre-dusk, whilst the Winter Gardens are open from 09h30 to 18h30 in summer and closes at 15h30 in winter.

Located at the historical Green, Cafe 52 offers contemporary cuisine and is available for private functions and parties as well as outside catering. Opening hours are from 12h00 to 24h00 daily, except on Sundays when closure is at 23h00. Lunch is available between 12h00 and 15h00 whilst dinner is served from 18h00 t0 21h30. Please note that group bookings require a deposit and that no children under 14 are allowed after 20h00. Free WLan access is available to patrons.
