[more]The Lakes Discovery Museum at the Armitt consists of a museum, gallery and library and comprises a seriers of collections of artefacts, books and original artworks which trace the histpry of the Lake Distrcit from its Roma origins. Central is the Armitt Collection which includes 400 waterclours by author Beatrix Potter and an archive of manuscripts and letters from John Ruskin. There is a gallery of Victorian photographs which includes works by Frith and over 10,000 books which relate to the Lake District. There is also museum shop on site.
