[Newfloridian, 08/10/2006] The Hotel Pulitzer, Amsterdam is part of the Luxury Collection of the Starwood Hotels and Resorts. It has been formed by the amalgamation and renovation of twenty four of the original canal houses. The modernisations have been quite extensive but have been in keeping with the listed nature of the buildings. It has created unusual sprawling hotel in the heart of the old city while retaining the feel of historic canal houses. The Pulitzer hotel, with its "frontage on the historic" Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals, "has spread through" twenty five 17th & 18th century houses. The author found himself walking "between two houses" to "enter the lobby and climb the steps" of a "former merchant's house", from where he was able to enter the "ever-crowded and cheerful" bar.
