'Chic', 'gorgeous', 'urban sophistication', super-tasteful'. All words used by the author, Laurence Earle, to describe the "hang-out of Amsterdam's beautiful people". He praises all aspects of the hotel - the oriental inspired bedroom, bathroom, comfort, location / views and food - with the absence of a full length mirror his only 'quibble'. Whilst many many aspects of the hotel are not commented on (the comfort of the bed for example) you are left in no doubt that the author was impressed by The Dylan.

After visiting the hotel Blakes Amsterdam in 2002 Jeffrey Riggs, the author of the article, was wondering if the hotel would "deliver the goods a second time" and he reports that the hotel did. Blakes is described here as "an avant-garde boutique hotel" with a "special sense of serenity and quiet". Once Jeffrey sat down on a sofa in the hotel lounge he felt that all of the "stresses of the city had fully evaporated".
