It was built between 1313 and 1380 and is 91 metres high. It has served as a bell tower to announce the time and various warnings, but also as a fortified watchtower. On each bell is a girl and a lion image, the symbol of Ghent. During the tour one can visit the tower, the carillon and the Bellmuseum.
