Airborne Museum Hartenstein

This museum is dedicated to Operation Market Garden of September 1944, an Allied attempt to outflank the Germans by crossing the Rhine in Holland and striking at the Ruhr. The Hartenstein Hotel was originally the headquarters of Feldmarschall Model, but after the landings he moved east to co-ordinate the counter-attacks and it became the command post of Major-General Urquhart of the 1st Airborne division. As has been well documented in the book and film "A Bridge Too Far", the operation failed. The hotel building now houses on three floors displays of the military operation, explanations of why it failed, and many exhibits in the form of photos, newspaper reports, notices, uniforms, guns and ordnance. There is also a film presentation. The museum is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm April to November and 11am to 5pm the rest of the year. Sunday opening hours are noon to 5pm. Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day. It is wheelchair accessible. There is a shop, and refreshments are available.

Paleis Het Loo

Dating from 1685, Het Loo has been a royal Dutch residence for three centuries and was opened to the public in 1984. A full tour lasts approximately 3 hours and, in addition to the illustrated guides, there is a video about the history of the palace and its inhabitants. Opening hours are daily from 10h00 to 17h00 except on Mondays and the Museum of the Chancellery of Dutch Orders is open from 13h00. 50-minute Garden tours are presented from May to September, whilst the rest of the year there are palace tours which last approximately 75 minutes. Please note that photography is disallowed inside the palace. Admission fees are €3.00 for children (aged 6-17) and €10.00 for adults. Visa and Matercard is accepted. Provision is made for disabled patrons and facilities include a gift shop and self-service restaurant.

This bowling and party centre is located near one of the famous lakes in the Netherlands. It consists of a 6 lane bowling area, cafe, restaurant, electronic games and a children's playground. The Centre also offers meeting / conference rooms and designated areas for weddings and receptions. The restaurant offers choices such as a barbecue or grilled meal, but due to its location near the big lake "Veluwe", fish is their speciality. During the spring and summer the terrace is open and offers views of the lake, beach and yacht basin. The restaurant and cafe are open from Tuesday till Friday from 8.30am - 10.00pm and on weekends from 9.30am - 10.00pm. The bowling is open from Tuesday till Saturday from 2.00pm till midnight and on the Sundays from 2.00pm till 10.00pm. They are closed on Mondays.
