The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois opened in 1681, making it one of the oldest in Europe. During this long history, it welcomed Napoleon, Queen Elizabeth II and Picasso. Completely renovated in 2006, it is located along the banks of the Rhine, in the centre of Basel. The five star establishment offers 101 rooms including 11 junior suites and 6 suites each with its own decor and colours, and furnished with antique furniture and art works. The flat screen TVs and CD/DVD players are by Bang & Olufsen, and the mini-bar contains soft drinks that can be taken free of charge. The Cheval Blanc Restaurant has 2 Michelin stars, a 700 strong wine list and a terrace over the Rhine. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday.
