[hugoburge, 09/18/2008] I was quite excited to be staying at the Langham as it looks quite smart on the outside. However, I was not that impressed - it felt, well, a bit pokey and not as top notch as I expected. The detail seemed lacking - a pen that didn't work in the room and nothing but broken silly little umbrellas for you to borrow. Not rushing to go back i have to say.

The Langham is a "conversion" of a 1920's bank building which was previously a "Le Meridian" hotel. It has an "old-world charm" that "sets it apart" from new 5-star rivals in the city. The hotel is "spotless" and everything "works perfectly well" but even so, improvements are planned with a "new and larger gym", improvements to the "stately lift system", a new bar and a new spa. The service is "as good as you would expect from...(a) five-star group" LOCATION - in the centre of the "financial district".
