St Edmunds Church is located right in the centre of the Peak District village of Castleton in Derbyshire. This is a Norman Church, built before the year 1200, although its exact date of construction is unknown. It includes several interesting features and plays an important role in the village's annual festival called Oak Apple Day, when a garland of flowers that has been paraded through the streets is finally hoisted to the top of the Church Tower, where it remains for the following 7 days. The Church is usually open and it is free to enter. However when visiting please ensure that a Service is not in progress.
