Independent information provider for consumers, reliable partner for booking sites
The first question often asked is, “Does trivago make money?” and if so, how? Yes, trivago is a profitable business, but we don’t take any money from consumers.

trivago is purely a
search engine; we don't sell anything. Like TV channels, radio stations, or other search engines, we charge advertisers to be shown on trivago. If you go to one of the indexed booking or hotel web sites, they pay for this lead.
This money is certainly not added to your bill. We can only show prices that hotels offer on their own websites or booking sites charge to their customers directly. You never book on trivago but always on the cooperating booking sites.
Besides this advertising fee, trivago stays totally independent. We always show the cheapest offers first; we do not offer any promotional space or highlight offers for any reason other than simply being the best deals.
trivago has profitably been growing as a business since the very beginning in 2005 and sacrificed this only once for the sake of faster internationalization in 2007/2008. In contrast to our innovative technological approach, we are quite conservative when it comes to business matters.
