Expectations for your application
It's all about the first impression! Because this usually comes from your application, you should prepare your documents carefully. Make sure you include all necessary information and not make any mistakes. We expect that your application comprises of your CV and a cover letter. Your CV should give us an overview of your career up until the present; your cover letter should tell us why you chose the position you are applying for and why you are the ideal candidate. Both documents should be saved as a PDF or MS Word file. Please make sure that you include your complete contact details in your application, including address, phone number, and email. We appreciate any relevant references and letters of recommendation that you may have. It is also essential that you send your whole application in English. This is our company language and because several people may be interviewing you, it is imperative that they all understand your application’s language.
Preparing for your job interview
If your application is successful, the next step is the job interview. It is important for us to get to know you a little during this interview. We would like to see if you fit in our team personally and based on your skills. Before we call you, you should give some thought to why you are important to trivago. What key skills do you possess for the position in which you are interested? What relevant experience have you gained so far? Take a look at the job offer again and familiarise yourself with the position as much as possible. Additionally, you should understand trivago's business model and how the website works. Go on trivago and take a look at what the website offers users. Finally, we will ask you about your previous work experience and the knowledge that you have accumulated. We assume that you will be familiar with common terminology in the field for which you are applying.
Hiring process
We believe the hiring process starts when we receive your application. This initial step automatically leads to the documents’ thorough examination. Our human resources department and the corresponding department for each job check every application. Due to the large number of applications we receive, this process can take some time. We will do our best to reply to you within two weeks after we receive your documents.
If we think you are a good fit to trivago, we will invite you for an interview. This interview can be done by phone (if you live far from trivago) or in person at our Düsseldorf office. Either way, your potential manager holds the interview and you should calculate about 1.5 hours’ time for it. Phone interviews are usually a little shorter (30 minutes to 1 hour) but in-person interviews may take longer. You will receive a final response within two weeks after the interview, depending on how many interviews we have scheduled for the position for which you are applying.
