- Standley Lake Regional Park is a 3,000 acre park within the City of Westminster, Colorado. The central feature of the park is the 42,000 acre-feet lake. The dam was first started in 1909 and initial construction lasted until 1919. In 1963 the City of Westminster expanded the dam to bring the total storage up to the current level.
In 1998 Standley Lake gained its designation as a regional park. The lake is open for boating from May 1 to September 30 from 7:30 AM to sunset. All boaters are required to have a boating permit. Inside the park area are 14 miles of maintained trails, single track trails that can be used for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding. There are many different species of animals and plants that occupy the park as either their year round home or layovers during migration.
Aside from the hiking and boating, fishing and camping are allowed. Camping season runs from May 1 through September 29 on a first come first served basis. Various types of fish are regularly stocked by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and regulated by the state. A Colorado fishing license is required.
