Dukes Hotel has been said to be the epitome of "understated elegance" with its "suites furnished with period furniture, objets d'art, fine paintings and porcelain" and is described as being "one of London's most civilized hotels" subsequent to having undergone a "£5 million facelift." All rooms boast state-of-the-art telecommunication equipment as well as "air-conditioning, en-suite marble bathrooms, private bar, room safes (and) satellite television." Situated nearby Buckingham Palace and Bond Street the hotel offers a wide variety of guest services and a bar which "is infamous for mixing a stiff, dry martini". Vintage cognacs are also on offer and dining options for up to 120 people are available in "three beautifully decorated dining rooms." Dukes is housed in a "preserved Edwardian building" and also has an "extensive health spa" on site.

Gayot awards this hotel three "golden keys", meaning "Very comfortable: Good rooms, amenities and service; you can't complain".

Dukes is said to be "one of the oldest privately run hotels in London", states the author of this review, Joanne O Connor. She describes how it is "tucked away in a peaceful flower-filled courtyard near Green Park" and about its facade which is red-brick. She states that the hotel offers a "traditional, very English experience", from the Grandfather clock in reception, to Afternoon Tea and to the "slighty chintzy decor". Her "pretty room" with views across to Green Park had "quite feminine but not overly fussy" decor. She also commented upon the friendly staff and about Gilberto, the Head Barman with his "renown" for dry martinis. The basement gym and health club is written about especially the £45 30min massage in the range of beauty treatments offered.

Mary Gold, the author, describes that the hotel was "astonishingly quiet" for its position and that it was a "handsome Georgian pile", still with its original gas lighting! It had a "country house feel" but with "non of that minimalist nonsense" and although large, had an intimate atmosphere. Rooms were decorated with restful colours, squashy sofas, oak furniture, antique prints and the suites also had plasma TVs and a view of Green Park. Bathrooms in marble, staff were swift, smiley and spoke good English. Food was reasonably priced and breakfast was "corking". As well, she writes there was a conservatory, tiny garden, one suite specially adapted for the disabled and a bar famous for its dry martinis.
