Been there last month. Although it was cold, we had a nice stroll along the market.
The market is ok. For grocerie shopping, fresh vegetables, typical Dutch fish and of course the Dutch cheeses it's a great place to go. But what might really be of your interest are all the small stores, boutiques and restaurants which are hidden behind the market venders. All kinds of utilities (kitchen!!!) clothing and spices from throughout the world can be found.
The market is open everyday except sundays from 9 to 5. But come early, that's when you have the entire market to yourself. And bring enough cash, nobody accepts cards and there are few banks around. But the hospitality of the joking Amsterdam market men is quite fun and a must to experience.
