First impressions of the hotel were good, it is a large modern skyscraper and looked high class.
We arrived a little earlier than the stated 3:00pm check-in time and had to wait until our allocated room was ready. Luckily this wasn't a long wait and the lobby had some comfortable seating where we could wait with a coffee from the bar.
Luckily we didn't have to wait long and check-in was smooth and quick.

The room itself was a bit of a dissapointment as although everything was lovely it was completely souless and had zero character.
It had everything you would expect from a modern 4 star hotel such as a flatscreen TV, minibar, tea and coffee maker, air conditioning, desk and a telephone. There was also a couch which also doubles as a sofa bed and this was obviously a good quality one and was really nice to sit on.
The bed was also extremely high quality and very comfortable to sleep on. As a business hotel room this would be perfect but when on holiday I would have liked a bit more Dutch character to tell me that I was in Amsterdam

The bathroom was fantastic and very modern and sleek looking. There was no bath but it did have a gorgeous walk in shower. There were plenty of towels and there was a selection of Movenpick toiletries which were much better than the usual shampoos you receive in hotels.

The hotel serves a buffet breakfast but we didn't have it this time and also lunch and dinner in it's restaurant.
We did have drinks in the hotel bar which was nice but surprisingly small considering the Movenpick is a 408 room hotel. The selection of drinks was good with lots of Dutch and Belgium beer and even fresh cocktails.

The facilities at the hotel are good, as well as the restaurant there is a gym, saunas, spa, business centre, child care, ticket service and all the others you would expect from a hotel of this class.
For the smokers they also have a heated outdoor smoking section which was a nice touch especially in the cold Dutch winter.

The bad thing about this hotel is the distance from the centre. They call it a city centre hotel but this is a blatent lie. The hotel would be close if you could walk over water but unfortunately for us mere mortals it is at least a 45 minute walk to Dam square from the hotel.
There is a tram stop near the hotel but at night when you just want to get home you either need to get a taxi or expect a long walk.
