The writer states that this hotel is "fit for a king or queen" and that it has accommodated both and some other famous persons too. He thinks that it is "tough to top" this hotel which offers "beautiful rooms from nearly every window" and fireplaces in the common rooms that are "large enough to stand in". Those common rooms are described was "perfect for reading" and "playing games after a day of hiking". The standard rooms are located upstairs, most suites on the top floor, and offer "plush towels" and "snuggly comforters".

The Ahwahnee Hotel is "perhaps the best hotel in the National Park System". It includes 123 guest rooms and 4 parlour rooms, each of which offers "incredible views". Rooms are decorated in "original Native American designs".
The Great Lounge has "cathedral ceilings", fireplace, "enormous mantel", "rich tapestries" which make the lounge "perhaps the most beautiful room in any National Park lodge". In The Great Lounge the afternoon tea is served. It includes "assortments of traditional cakes and other delights".
Dinner is served in Ahwahnee Great Dining room "by candlelight" and dishes have "classic French" taste.
The hotel hosted many famous people: Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, English Prime Minister Winston Churchill, U.S. President John F. Kennedy and many movie stars.
Author considers that the memory about staying here "will remain long after you've forgotten the price".
