A modern luxury hotel with wonderful views across the water from the bedrooms and from the bar. It claims to have the best view of Hong Kong and I agree, perhaps with the exception of the view from Victoria Peak. The view at night, when the lights come on and the fireworks start, is even better. The bar is an excellent, if rather expensive, place to relax and watch life float past outside.

The author describes the Intercontinental Hong Kong as "one of the most attractive hotels in Asia" the inside is "opulent" while the outside "offers some of the finest views of the Hong Kong skyline". He suggests popping in for a "spectacularly conceived cocktail at 8 PM" which allows you to view "the skyline light show". This is a unique and "memorable Hong Kong experience" he rates as the "equivalent to tea at the Peninsula". The lobby, he reports as "airy" while the bedrooms are "impeccably modern" with "luxuriously large beds". Even the desks come with "ergonomically designed chairs". The bathrooms have "superlative showers". He continues the suites located on the corner boast"180-degree harbour views". In the executive lounge "Dom Perignon is the house champagne" while he suggests the "spa is worth e-mailing home about". The" incredible restaurant lineup" he tells us is soon to be joined by "Nobu -- to give Alain Ducasse a bit of company perhaps".

The May Issue of the Business Traveller Magazine Asia Pacific has a report about several hotels in Hong Kong, which offer Club Floors and have executive suites and rooms. The report under the title "Stylish Seclusion" describes also the Intercontinental Hong Kong and its 23 executive suites. The author describes the suites with app. 69 sqm as comfortably contemporary. He points out that all suites offer "harbour views" and have "LCD TVs with Bose Home Entertainment sound systems" and offer "iPod docking stations" as well. Deks are "oversized". The "marble bathrooms" are "large" and bathroom amenities are by Bulgari and "showers double up as steam room".

The Executive Lounge (called 'Club Intercontinental') offers view to "the buzz off the lobby lounge below" and the "harbour". In the night time, "quality cocktails" and snacks are available. As the author thinks, this is an "ideal spot for the solo or female traveller".

RTWMan stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong, which he thinks is an "excellent hotel" and "very handy for Nathan Road and for the Star Ferry". He was "greeted" according to his status as Royal Ambassador and his upgrade was "explained" to him. His room was shown to him by the receptionist, which he considers to be a "very nice touch". He describes his junior suite as "comfortable" and "spacious" with "fabulous harbour views". He comments on the electric curtains in his room, which could be "operated from the wall beside the bed".
His welcome gift was a pen and Chinese tea was also provided "shortly after arrival," as well as the usual water and fresh fruit. He points out that , if one decides to stay there, "it's all about the view".
Pictures taken by the author during his stay are also available on this page.

The Regent Hotel in Hong Kong was renamed to the Intercontinental Hong Kong subsequent to its becoming the flagship of the Six Continents Hotels group, but still maintains its "long-standing reputation" and original staff. Situated "at the edge of Victoria Harbour" many of the 514 rooms afford guests "spectacular views" and count "air purification systems" amongst its amenities. Standard services include a "butler service, laundry, fresh fruit" & Chinese tea on arrival. The "sleek and contemporary" building contains amongst other things five restaurants, two lounges and "a swimming pool and sun terrace, an exercise studio and a spa". The hotel is said to maintain "its pride in the building's feng shui," which serves to denote a tranquil and healthy ambiance.

Observing the "harbour view" from a double bed "early in the morning" or "late at night" "triples the thrill". The hotels retaurant Spoon by Alain Ducasse is " of the finest restaurants in the world" and the I-Spa is "without doubt one of the best in the city". Finally the hotels concierge is described as a "prime example of the gentlemanly omniscience".
Overall, "ambience", "staff", "location", and "cleanliness" are rated "9" out of 10.
