Bad Cannstatt

Bad Cannstatt is Stuttgart's largest city district and looks back on a history that goes back as far as the Pleistocene, mammals found from this era in the area are on display in the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart which is also located in the district. A city in its own right Bad Cannstatt joined Stuttgart in 1905, bringing a wealth of local attractions to the capital of the state. Bad Cannstatt is not only home to the second largest mineral spas, only surpassed by the city Buda in Hungary, but also the second largest beer festival in the world. It's festival grounds at the Wasen host the Volksfest every year in September/October, a smaller version, the Spring Festival and a large variety of other events are held here throughout the year. The "Wilhelma", Stuttgart's popular zoo and botanical garden, is located in Bad Cannstatt and, being the hometown of Gottlieb Daimler, the district has a close connection to the automobile industry and history. The Mercedes Benz Museum can be found within the grounds of the companies' Bad Cannstatt factory.
