However, if you are a plane spotter, then possibly Heathrow is your holiday heaven, and a room in the Holiday Inn could well be your perfect holiday accommodation. Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace is located in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and dates from around 1514 when it was built by King Henry VIII for Cardinal Wolsey. He lived in the palace until 1529 when he fell out of favour with the King and from that point on it became the main residence of King Henry VIII who had it enlarged. Over the next two centuries it was enlarged further and remained a principal residence of the Royal Family until the late 18th century. Today Hampton Court Palace is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Britain and plays host to many events throughout the year, including an annual flower show by the Royal Horticultural Society that attracts over 300,000 visitors. The palace is open for visiting daily throughout the year (with the exception of a few public holidays over the Christmas period) and several different ticket options are available. Full details of prices along with the opening hours are available on the website.

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (also known as Kew Gardens) consist of 300 acres of gardens and greenhouses along the east bank of the Thames in southwest London. Founded by Princess Augusta (mother of George III) in 1759, the gardens were gifted to the nation by the Royal Family in 1841. Kew Gardens are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and they function as a major scientific institution for the study and classification of plants as well as a major tourist attraction. Features include paths to and by the river, bedding areas with seasonal plantings, the Rhododendrum Dell, 18th-century garden follies designed by Sir William Chambers, the Kew Garden Gallery, and the Palm House for tropical plants. The gardens are accessible by riverboat (about 90 minutes from Westminster Pier) or by Tube (District Line toward Richmond). Check the official Web site for admission fees and public hours.
