Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls are often referred to as the "Niagara of the West" and with a drop of 212 ft they are 50 ft higher than the Niagara Falls. It is recommended to visit the falls during spring when the Snake River runs high due to melted snow as later in the year irrigation can cause the river to run dry. The Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake Complex are operated by the city of Twin Falls and apart from views of the falls you will also find playgrounds, picnic areas, trails, a boat ramp and a swimming area as well as toilets and a visitor information centre. Admission fee : $3 per car

Shoshone Ice Caves

Shoshone Ice Caves

The caves at Shoshone are one of the natural wonders of the world and if you want to descend into the 1000 ft long lava tube and explore the trails don't forget to wrap up warm. Due to air currents within the tubes the water in the caves is frozen all the time and guides will explain the geologic, volcanic, and historical background of the ice caves to you. Above ground there is a museum that showcases Indian artifacts, gems and minerals. The ice caves are located 16 miles to the North of the village Shoshone. Opening times : May-Sept. 8am - 8pm daily, last tour begins at 7pm Closed during the winter season Admission fees: Adult $6 Seniors $5.50 Children 5-14 years of age $3.75
