This colourful, family run hostel is the place for travellers who like nature and would like to explore the beautiful mountains and countryside, or find out about and hand-crafted work with leather.
Located in the village La Esperanza, just 20 minutes away from the white city of Ibarra and 1 hour away from Otovalo. The Refuge is nestled at the foot of the Imbabura volcano, from the summit you can admire a spectacular panoramic view of all the surroundings
The hostel is a pleasant and welcoming rural house, complete with rustic decoration with colourful mural paintings and leather ornaments made with traditional methods.
In the lounge, near the fireplace, hosts and guests get together to share food, socialise and experience cultural nights - enjoying traditional dance and typical drinks.
The Terra Esperanza Refuge has shared and private rooms. Two dorms, one with 4 beds and the other with 6, and two matrimonial rooms. All with shared bathrooms. Perfect for couples, travellers, or group of friends who would like to enjoy an atypical, friendly and relaxed place. There is free Wi-Fi and a television room as well.
A daily continental breakfast of tea or coffee, eggs, fresh fruit juice, homemade jam and fresh bread is offered. There are shared kitchen facilities as well. For guests who would like to enjoy delicious typical food, the hostess of the Refuge would be delighted to share with them the culinary secrets of the region.
There is a smoking area and patio in the heart of the Refuge, open to everyone who wants to enjoy sunbathing and the BBQ facilities.
Leather craftsmen for more than 150 years, the owners share their ability and know-how with their guests, teaching them how to make belts, shoes and saddles in the workshop located behind the Refuge.
