Located south of the Mecidiyekoy Metro, the Cevahir Mall was opened in 2005 and is the second largest shopping mall worldwide. Its 420.000 square meter structure houses 280 shops as well as an entertainment centre, numerous cinemas, restaurants, a bowling alley, IMAX theatres and a stage for shows. The mall is also known for having the largest clock worldwide and it includes a roller coaster which spans the interior. It is the largest European shopping mall and provides parking facilities for approximately 2500 vehicles.

Istanbul Naval Museum

The Naval Museum first opened its doors to the publick in 1897 when it was known as the 'Sea Museum'. It contains a rich collection of exhibits which are divided between two buildings and the garden. The garden has items from many battleships. The first building contains old ships, model ships and items from the private yacht of Kemal Ataturk, the 'father' of modern Turkey, as well as many paintings of naval battles. Finally, the second building exhibits ships dating from the time of the Ottoman Empire. The museum is opened daily except Monday and Tuesday from 09.30a.m. - 12.30p.m. and 1.30p.m - 5.30p.m.

The Historical Galatasaray Bath

Hammam Culture is a Turkish tradition dating back to olden times. Galatasay Hammam is a hammam (or steam bath house) in the Galatasaray district of the city which was one of important trade centers in Ottoman times. The Hammam was built by Sultan Beyazit Han II in 1481, then was updated repeatedly with repairs and modifications during the eras of Sultan Selim II, Sultan Mehmet IV, the Hunter, Sultan Ahmet III and Sultan Mahmud I. The exterior of the bath has also been kept historically accurate. Galatasay Hammam is a double hammam with sections for both men and women. The Hammam is opened everyday for Men 06:00 22:00 Women: 08:00 20:00 In summer the hammam will be open 1 more hour.

Military Museum

Military Museum

The Military Museum is located in the area of Harbiye in a former military academie which counts Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as one of its former students. The museums showcases artefacts of Military History from the Ottoman era until WW2 and to be seen are the hall of tent with a collection of embroidered and silk tents, leather and metalwork costumes, armour and more. Every afternoon between 15.00-16.00 one can enjoy a performance of the Mehter Takimi, a military band which had its origins in 1289. The museum is open from 10.00-17.00 from Wednesday to Sunday.
