Perfection! We look forward to returning.
Reviewed December 2010 by tammyandy
We had high expectations from the website, but from the moment we arrived until leaving, we enjoyed one "WOW" moment after another! The address of Villa Afrikana is called Paradise. Ross & Bianca have certainly lived up to that standard. We think of their beautiful home as "African Chic". Every view, every room has features the spectacular Knysna lagoon. The style of their home is very bright, yet warm. Ross, Bianca and their attentive staff ...

About a year ago my friends asked me to join them on a magical and rather extreme trip, I answered there question and said where to? And when they told me they were going to South Africa, there was no doubt at all... I joined So we saved up our money and finally booked our tickets and ended up in Knysna last summer. Best Hotel/Guest House on the garden Route!
Reviewed October 2009 by extravel
From the pictures we’d seen, and the reports we’d heard, we knew Villa Afrikana was going to be special. This really was the highlight of our trip. The location on the hill (in Paradise) provides glorious views of the heads and is perfectly located to allow exploration of all the areas in Knysna. The décor-magazine interiors are white, unspoiled and evoke a sense of calm with just a little bit of glamour and as soon as we met the hosts, we ...

Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe

Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe

The Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe is a South African steam train that runs between George and Knysna in the Western Cape. It is the oldest steam train in Africa that has been in continual operation. The journey between George and Knysna takes around 3 hours and covers 67 kilometres (42 metres). In recent years the majority of its passengers are tourists since the route follows the scenic Garden Route. It carries around 120,000 passengers each year. The railway was established in 1928 and was declared as a Preserved Railway in 1992. At the end of the route in Knysna there is a transport museum where visitors can learn about the history of the train and its route. Timetables and fares can be found on the official homepage.

Robberg Peninsula Nature Reserve

Robberg Peninsula Nature Reserve

The Robberg Peninsula Nature Reserve is located on an area of coastline approximately 8 kilometres south of Plettenberg Bay. The area comprises of a rocky headland surrounded by the ocean on three sides. It provides an important habitat for a variety of birds, plants, mammals and marine life. Three different circular hiking routes cover the area, the longest of which will take about 4 hours to complete. It is recommended that care is taken along all routes as the area can be especially dangerous at high tide. In order to preserve the area there are a number of regulations in place that include a maximum speed of 20 km/ph for vehicles, fires are prohibited outside designated areas and marine fishing is only possible via a permit. The Robberg Peninsula Nature Reserve is located along South Africa's famous Garden Route and is open daily from 7am until 5pm daily, with extended opening until 8pm during December and January.
