Citysightseeing Sofia is an outdoor bus tour, with a route that passes by the most popular places in the Bulgarian capital. The start and end stop of the bus is in front of the famous church Alexander Nevsky. At the official website a map and list of the current route of the bus can be viewed. The Sofia tour lasts approximately 40-50 minutes. Departure time is every 2 hours from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm every day. The National History Museum in Sofia, was opened in 1973, but in the present building (ex house № 1 of the Government residence) since 2002. The museum hosts more than 650 000 exhibits representing Bulgarian history from prehistoric times to the present days. The exhibition presents objects from the field of numismatics, philately, heraldry and film, photo and sound exhibits. Visitors can see documents, maps, posters and early printed materials in foreign languages. The museum holds collections of household items, garments, embroidery fabrics, jewellery, furniture, ecclesiastical garments and accessories, chest decorations and artwork. Military is represented by weapons, documents and uniforms. The museum is located in the lap of Vitosha mountain, about 10 km from city center. Working hours: November to March from 9am to 5.30pm April to October from 9am to 6pm Closed during public holidays - January 1, March 3, 24 and 25 Dec. B29 Pianobar is located in the centre of Sofia, within 10 minutes walk from Sheraton Hotel. The bar offers a dance floor, a piano and space for a live band. Live Music is performed every day by popular Bulgarian musicians. The music ranges from Jazz and Retro to Dance, Pop and R’n’B. The menu offers a wide selection of liquors, cocktails, wine, soft drinks and shakes, as well as sandwiches and snacks. In addition the bar offers a special cocktail menu. The B29 Pianobar has 100-120 seats and can accommodate up to 200 people at cocktail events. Hadji Draganovite kushti (The houses of Hadji Dragan) is a restaurant complex situated in downtown Sofia, a few minutes walk from the Lion bridge, Central train and bus station as well as Princess Dedeman hotel. The restaurant was opened in 2004 and is situated in 4 restored (in a different Bulgaria style) houses representing the different architecture areas in the country. The exterior and interior are from 19th century and are decorated and adorned with authentic Bulgarian household items. The restaurant offers Bulgarian cuisine, including salads, grilled dishes, baked pastries, sea food and desserts. In the evening the complex offers live music such as performers of traditional Bulgarian music.
Vitosha Mountain is one of the symbols of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The nature park begins right behind the suburbs of the city and offers its visitors ten peaks which are each more than 2000 m high, the longst cave in Bulgaria, waterfalls and stone rivers. It is also home to a great variety of fauna and flora, many of them being endangered species. The nature park is a popular wintersports area with many ski runs, lifts and cable cars, offers an abundance in hiking trails and plenty of restaurants.
