Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is the main airport of Kenya. In 1958 Jomo Kenyatta International Airport opened its doors and today it handles around 2.5 million passengers a year making it the busiest airport in East and Central Africa. Around 18 different airlines have daily flights to and from the airport which is also the home base of "Kenya Airways" In the main terminal, which is used for international flights, you will find several duty free shops as well as shops selling wood carvings, African clothes, audio and video, jewellery and much more. For some passengers there are special lounges available and for head of state visitors there is an exclusive State Pavilion. The national terminal, which is near the main terminal, is used for national flights to destinations such as Mombasa or Eldoret. In this terminal you will find a small restaurant and 2 or 3 small shops for food, newspapers and some souvenirs. Public transportation is available at both terminals or you can hire a vehicle at one of the car rental desks in the main terminal. The airport is available 24 hours and 7 days a week but the shops and restaurants are closed between the last and first flight.
