Old Faithful Geyser

Old Faithful Geyser

The Old Faithful in Calistoga is one of the three Geysers in the world that can be named so, as it is regularly erupting at predictable intervals. At the moment it erupts every 20-30 minutes and when it does so, it tosses a fountain of hot water up to 75ft high in the air. While there, visitors can also see the animals , some Tennessee Fainting Goats, Jacob's Four-Horn Sheep and Guard Llamas in the petting zoo, enjoy a picnic or eat in the snack bar. There is also a souvenir shop. Open daily from 09.00-17.00 winter 09.00-18.00 summer

Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods National Monument

Muir Woods National Monument is a remnant of the coastal redwood forests and it is one of the last uncut stands of ancient redwoods. President Theodore Roosevelt declared the area as a national monument in 1908 and named it in honor of John Muir, a Scottish born conservationist. It is located 12 miles north of Golden Gate Bridge through U.S. 101 and California 1 routes and there is no public transport services to the park. It has a gift shop and a visiting centre, including self-guiding nature trails with entrance fees for 17 years old and up, which opens from 8AM to sunset all year. The park is being managed by Golden Gate National Recreation Area as part of the 380 parks in the US National Park System.
