Clean at first sight till you see the crack

We had difficulty driving to this hotel as the area was flooded. When we rang the reception we were given wrong directions, so ended up circling around for an hour extra and almost got screamed at down the phone. When we finally arrived, the receptionist was on his mobile chatting to his friend, he was very reluctant to end his personal call to deal with us. Would love to know if someone else had a better experience but i rather felt let down by The New Northumbria hotel. The hotel seemed like somewhere better suited to a stag party than someone taking a weekend break or on business. The hotel seemed to be perched on top of a disco and a bar.   • Lindisfarne Castle

    Lindisfarne Castle

    Situated on Holy Island, and perched on a rocky crag, this miniature castle is accessible only at low tide. It was originally a Tudor fort but was converted into a private house in 1903. The castle's opening times vary depending on the tides, but on the days on which it is open, it is open for 5 hours, either from 10am- 3pm or from 12 noon- 5pm. A copy of the tide tables can be obtained by contacting Lindisfarne Castle. Admission prices are: Adults - £6.00 Child - £3.00 Family tickets are available and reduced entry fees are avialable for National Trust members.

    Zetland Lifeboat

    The Zetland Lifeboat is the oldest lifeboat in existence and was built in 1802 and whilst in service it saved more than 500 lives. The museum tells the history of the Zetland and the RNLI and how the lives of fisherman were saved from the sea.Other exhibits include a fisherman's cottage and art gallery.     Teesside Park is located off the A19 and has free parking, other facilities include toilets, petrol station and a covered path in front of the shops. The type of shops located at the park include food, clothes, electrical goods, toys, books, coffee houses, restaurants, pharmacy, and shoes. There is a leisure park opposite the shopping park that includes a bowling alley, cinema, bingo hall and casino. Opening and closing times vary depending on the shop.

    RNLI Whitby Museum

    The RNLI Whitby Museum opened in 1957 and is housed in the former double boathouse which dates from 1895. This building contains a collection of artefacts relating to the history of local sea rescues. There are lifeboat models, medals, paintings and photographs as well as personal written accounts from RNLI crew members. It is open from Easter to October, from 10am until 4pm daily. Admission is free, although donations are welcome. The long distance walk "The Cleveland Way" passes close to this attraction.
