The church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary" was built in 1817 on the site of an earlier church that had been destroyed by the Kurdzhalies at the end of the 18th century. A local story tells us that the builders from Smolsko and Mirkovo built the church in just 11 days. It contains many precious works of art including the Iconostasis /1821/ and the other icons made by Renaissance painters during the period of 1837 to 1838.
A patron saint's day is 15th of August .
Kashtata na Todor Kableshkov
Todor Kableshkov was a 19th Century revolutionary leader and one of the leaders of Bulgaria's April Uprising against the Ottoman rulers. His family home is in Koprivshtitsa and is now open to the public as a museum. The house was built by a local master-builder/architect called Gencho Mladenov in 1845 - just a few years before Kableshkov's birth. His family were wealthy and the house reflects that with a grand facade and exquisitely decorated interior. The museum includes an exhibition on his revolutionary activities.
The museum is open from 9:30 - 17:30 every day except Monday.
