The location is good and it is easy to reach from the airport and a change from the usual Sheraton, Hilton or Hyatt properties I usual stay in. On the other hand, the lobby is a bit too busy and I dislike tourists doing some sort of sightseeing here. Luckily, this is not that annoying anymore with the hotel being open for a longer time now. The rooms are modern but comfortable and the pool is a nice add-on. A nice place if one needs a change from the usual hotel rooms, but not for everybody. If I need a break from the average room, I book this one.

410 room, divided like in all W hotels into different superlative categories: Wonderful, Spectacular, Groovy Corner, Focus corner, Marvellous Suites and Extreme Suites. All rooms come with DVD and CD Player, but the internet is USD 14.95 + taxes if you are not holding highest elite status with SPG. The standard rooms are more of the small side, but okay. The Corner rooms have more space. Everything is still in good shape, though a few scratches are visible. The bed is really comfortable.
I received an upgrade to a Groovy Corner room with a simple yet modern decor in neutral tones. Framed black and white photos of San Francisco made a decorative element and some modern art. Bathroom amenities are by Bliss and restocked daily like the towels.

It is like every W a hip place to stay and thus always bustling with business people and tourists. The bar leads to the W Living Room or hotel lobby in every other hotel. Sofas are available for lounging, but it is for sure not quiet area.
Books and board games are provided to guests but are merely for decoration than real reading but a good idea for a lobby. At the reception area a cool jug of orange and lemon-infused water are offered to guests and there were countless art objets. I was swiftly checked in and accompanied to my room by a member of staff who showed me the room facilities.
The fitness centre is open 24/7 and offers a range of cardiovascular machines and weights. The indoor pool has an atrium roof. The Bliss Spa has eight treatment rooms offering massages, facials, body treatments and packages. It offers also an outdoor space
There are seven meeting rooms and a boardroom in addition a the business center on the third floor. Asundeck could be hired for events as well

XYZ (real name !) is the bar and restaurant offering breakfast and lunch from monday to Friday and dinner all week. On the weekend brunch is available. The bar is open til 2:00 am and on Tuesday-Saturday Night a DJ is playing music. The offerings are good and the service is attentive. Wine and cocktail list are good but expensive - there are a lot of places, which are better and cheaper. But I guess the quality is not so much the reason to dine here.

Located next to the Museum of Modern Art and a 5 minutes walk to the Montgomery Street BART station and thus easy to reach from the airport.
