Zoológico Nacional

The National Zoologic from Santiago is located in part of Santiago Metropolitan Park, that is the cerro (cerro is a little mountain) San Cristobal. It was opened in 1925, and there are currently 158 species and about a thousand animals in an area of 4.8 hectares. Approximately 30% of them are indigenous, such as condors (a bird), vicuna (a type of camel), chinchillas (a rodent) and cougars (South American feline). You can get there using bus, or a car o surface trail or walk by the Barrio Bellavista from the subway station of Santiago called Baquedano
