Oak Creek Canyon

The scenic route leads on highway 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff. Passing along Oak Creek Canyon, which is famous for its spectacular scenery, visitors will get a chance to see the colorful rocks and unique formations from the comfort of their car. For those who want to stop on the route, there are several picnic areas, photo vantage points, hiking trails and possibilities for swimming and fishing. South of Sedona you will find famous rock formations such as Steam Boat Rock, Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock which all have made appearances in movies. The whole drive spans 88 miles and will take about 2.5 hrs of driving time. All the roads are paved and open throughout the whole year.

Red Rock State Park

The Red Rock State Park stretches over 286 acres of land which originally were part of the Smoke Trail Ranch. The Oak Creek flows through the park and creates a rare diverse riparian habitat with an abundance of plants and wildlife. The park offers a 5 mile network of family orientated and well marked trails which lead to the major viewing points. There is also a visitor centre, picnic areas and restrooms. Self guided or ranger led tours are available. Please note that pets are not allowed in the park. Opening times: Winter Hours: 8am - 5pm (Oct-Mar) 8am - 6pm (April) Summer Hours: 8am - 8pm (May-Aug) 8am - 6pm (Sept) Visitor Centre 9am - 5pm (Sept-Apr) 9am - 6pm (May-Aug)
