[02/11/2007] Alexandra Young describes in the August issue of Global Traveler (Global Traveler, P 16) the Hilton Stockholm Slussen. She pointed out, that arriving early at the hotel, her room was not yet ready and the staff let her check into a different room to refresh. Returning to the hotel, her room was ready and her luggage "transferred to a larger room". She rates it with "20 out of 20 points".
Her suite reminded her to "a ship's cabin", but one "designed for a business traveler". Her room had a "spacious desk and broadband Internet access", though the fee for the Internet is a "minus". Her suite had a "small balcony" offering "views of Stockholm's Old Town and City Hall". A "nice perk" in the eyes of the author was the fact, that her suite had "its very own sauna". The executive lounge, which she could access due to her booked suite, was "handy for breakfast, informal meetings and evening cocktails" and had "lovely views of the city". The staff was "very friendly" and "helped her planing a sightseeing route".
The hotels offers a "nice" restaurant on "lobby level", which is "popular with locals and guests" and offers "great views of Old Town". The conference center of the hotel is "state-of-the-art" with small conference rooms as well as a "full auditorium", all with "nice views of the city".
The "state-of-the-art gym" had a whirlpool, but "no pool".
She pointed out, that the building built 1989 by the "contemporary Swedish architect Gert Wingard" to "reflect to surrounding environments and architectural landmarks". He used "circular shapes" everywhere and was "inspired by the water in the nearby locks" to do so and created a "fantastic building". "This attention to detail" is also reflected to the "overall guest experience, top service and friendly attitude of staff". The author "appreciated also the hotel's location", being in "walking distance of major points in the city and close to public transportation". In overall, she rates the hotel with "90 out of 100 points".
