Le Grand Café du Théâtre

Le Grand Café du Théâtre

Grand Café du Théâtre is a Tunisian restaurant located in the heart of the capital, Tunis, on the Habib Bourguiba avenue. This mercantile thoroughfare is the main one in the town, and links, with the Avenue de France which prolongs it, the TGM station with the Medina. As the name indicates, this restaurant is located next to the theatre of Tunis. It serves traditional Tunisian dishes and international cuisine in a room upstairs, and in a partially covered room downstairs. A terrace is also available for clients wishing to eat or just have a drink.

Avenue Habib Bourguiba

Avenue Habib Bourguiba

The Avenue Habib Bourguiba is, with the Avenue de France which prolongs it on the other side of the Place de l'Indépendance, the main axis of the New Town of Tunis. It was built following the Champs Elysées model. In the middle of the road, a wide pedestrian area has palm trees and benches. It links the harbour and the TGM (Tunis-Marsa-Goulette) station on the one side, with the medina (old town) on the other. Along this Avenue, monuments such as the St-Vincent-de-Paul Cathedral, the Art Nouveau Municipal Theatre, and the art and craft house are found. The Porte de France (Bab Bhar) at the end of this axis marks the end of the New Town and the entrance to the Medina.
