Das Olympiastadion von Helsinki liegt im Stadtteil Töölöö und wurde 1934-1938 nach Entwürfen der Architekten Yrjö Lindegen und Toivo Jäntti anlässlich der Olympischen Spiele 1949 gebaut, die dann aber aufgrund des Krieges ausfielen. 1952 war es Austragungsort der Olympischen Sommerspiele. Heute wird das Stadion für Sportereignisse und Konzerte genutzt. Das Wahrzeichen des Stadions ist der 72,71m hohe Aussichtsturm. Die Höhe entspricht genau der Siegesweite des finnischen Speerwurf-Olympiasiegers Matti Järvinen von 1932. Der Aussichtsturm ist für Touristen geöffnet und bietet eine gute Aussicht über Helsinki. Öffnungszeiten: Montag bis Freitag: 9-20 Uhr Wochenende: 9-18 Uhr Geschlossen bei Veranstaltungen im Stadion. Eintrittspreise: Erwachsene 2 Euro, Kinder 1 Euro, Gruppen über 10 Person 1,50 Euro/Person Die Haltestelle Kansaneläkelaitos der Straßenbahnlinie 4 ist ca. 400m vom Stadion entfernt.
