Zoo Aquarium de Madrid

Zoo Aquarium de Madrid

Madrid Zoo and Aquarium has a comprehensive collection of creatures of all kinds from all over the world. There are more than 6,000 animals representing 500 species in an area of 20 hectares which can accommodate up to 3,000 visitors. As well as the animal compounds there is an aquarium, a dolphinarium and areas for exotic birds and birds of prey. The coral display is considered one of the most impressive in Europe. Special displays are mounted featuring the dolphins, the birds of prey, and the parrots. For younger children there is a farm of domestic animals which the children can stroke. A speciality over the summer months are the Zoo Nights when the zoo stays open until midnight and nocturnal guided visits and displays are organised. There is a self-service cafeteria styled as an African tribal village. For moving round the zoo electric wheelchairs can be hired and trips are available on an electric train and by boat. Opening hours vary throughout the year: details of these and ticket prices are on the website.
