Hotel Waterford Marina Waterford
The Armstrong Bridge market was started in 1963 when the bridge was closed to traffic and is held every Sunday. Local traders exhibit paintings, ceramics, jewellery and handicrafts along both sides of the bridge.
The Armstrong Bridge was designed and built between 1876-78 by W. G. Armstrong & Co. Connecting the suburbs of Jesmond and Heaton, it is made up of eight seventy foot wrought-iron lattice girder spans supported by seven pairs of square wrought-iron box-section columns. Its overall length is 168 metres and reaches a height of 20 metres as it crosses Jesmond Dene. It was pedestrianised in the 1960s. It is a Grade II listed building.

There is free parking in marked bays under the bridge and in nearby streets.
The bridge is wheelchair accessible.
