Positive Reviews

Clean and comfortable bunk rooms

Feedback from guests indicates that you'll find the bunk rooms here are of a good standard. The mattresses for the beds have been recently replaced so you can expect a good night's sleep. Guests also tend to find the rooms are quiet. The shared shower rooms won't suit everybody but guest do find they are finished to a high standard.

Excellent kitchen and catering

Previous guests have consistently reported that the kitchen here is of an excellent standard. Expect to find it clean, spacious, and well equipped. If you don't fancy cooking, the food on sale at this hostel also receives positive feedback. Guests have found it expertly cooked and reasonably priced.

Fantastic hosts

The hosts at this hostel often attract positive feedback from guests. Now the establishment has changed from a YHA hostel to a family-run affair, the focus seems to be very much on guest enjoyment. The hosts have proved friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Negative Reviews

Public transport may prove frustrating

The location of this hostel is a great spot for hiking and cycling. Similarly, if you have a car, you'll likely find the location is convenient. If, however, you plan to rely on public transport, you may encounter some frustrations. Local buses are found to be scarce and taxis are expensive.

No on-site parking

Guests note the lack of parking at this hostel, further finding that the charge to park in the nearby National Trust property is quite expensive (although free overnight). Free daytime parking is situated a little further afield.

Wi-Fi could be better

The Wi-Fi here is a source of mild frustration for guests. Although an Internet connection seems to be readily available in the lounge, it is unlikely that you will be able to get online in your bunk room.
