Positive Reviews

Fantastic staff

The staff at The Toren is top notch They are friendly and happy to go the extra mile to help with anything you need They are also very knowledgeable and can provide maps, recommendations for restaurants, set up car service from the airport, nothing is too much trouble.

Ideal city location

The location is perfect for visiting Amsterdam It’s right in Jordaan, one of the nicest parts of the city The hotel is in the midst of the canals and near many attractions, just a block from Anne Frank House and five minutes from Dam Square There are lots of restaurants and bars a short walk also and transportation is convenient, which is good because Amsterdam is not a city you want to rely on a car in!

Clean, charming rooms and free Wi-Fi

The hotel has such charm and a truly wonderful atmosphere The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable Those overlooking the canal have lovely views The rooms are a good size and the Jacuzzi tubs are very luxurious The free Wi-Fi is useful and Nespresso machine is a nice addition also Overall, the amenities along with the quirky, unique décor make for a really fun stay.

Negative Reviews

Separate buildings

The Toren hotel consists of two buildings, the main one with the reception and bar and the second one about 50 yards away in the annex. You should try for a room in the main building or it really feels like you are quite separate from the hotel.

Dark decor and small rooms

The rooms are not as large as expected; if you pay more to book one with a Jacuzzi tub, it seems to fill up the entire bedroom. The hotel décor is dark and rather gloomy, there is very little natural light in either the main areas or rooms.

Lacking in value

For the cost of the hotel, the rooms are smaller than you might expect That said, rooms in Amsterdam are generally not very large to begin with Breakfast is fine but nothing special and if you are staying in the annex building, you do need to walk over (so hopefully it isn’t raining) The hotel is unique and service is great, it’s just a bit pricey for what you get.
