Positive Reviews

Delightfully quirky design and decor

This was perhaps what guests most appreciated about the guest house. Many spoke of being enchanted by their design and décor, which seemed to transport them into another world. To some this was turn of the century New Orleans, while others simply felt that they were in a magical world.

Perfect in-town location

Guests were very happy with the location of the guest house. They explained that it was in the very heart of the little town of Avalon and that they really didn't have far to walk to get to the town's best restaurants and shops. Some also mentioned the benefit of being quite close to the ferry terminal.

Remarkably quiet

Many guests who were impressed by how central the guest house was went on to add that they were surprised by how quite and serene it was. It seems it might be on a quieter side street, but whatever the reason, guests were happy to be able to relax in peace and quiet.

Negative Reviews

Uncomfortable trundle beds

This was perhaps the most common complaint. Guests who were relegated to one of the trundle beds were a bit unhappy. They were said to be uncomfortable and not really suitable for adults or older, and so heavier, children.

Showers in the kitchen

Guests in some of the cottages were amazed to discover that the shower was not in the bathroom, or in its own room, but actually in the kitchen. They found this a little bizarre and perhaps unhygienic as well.

Some rooms a bit small

Guests in one or two of the rooms felt that they really were too small for the official number of guest allowed to occupy that unit, leading to roommates getting on each other's nerves.
