Positive Reviews

Nice to stay in while enjoying the coastal sights

The hotel has pleasant accommodations befitting a coastal area The prices are fair for being right in town centre and near the beaches, a five minute walk to the rail, and convenient to several golf courses It's a lovely retreat, just 25 minutes by bus to Somerset Park and Dunure, and less than an hour's drive from Kelvingrone Art Gallery and Museum.

It's refreshing to deal with such friendly staff

Nice hotel accommodations are sometimes marred by poor customer service, but that's not the case here The staff are very friendly, and make you feel happy that you're with them for your stay Everyone from reception to night porter to wait-staff earn praise for their warm welcomes and assistance.

Great food & atmosphere make for a wonderful time

The bistro and cafe food is delicious, well priced, and has a balance of professional flair and home cooked goodness A lot of the ingredients are locally sourced, and there's a great selection of ales and wines A cosy, intimate atmosphere is a perfect addition to the hotel's tranquil setting.

Negative Reviews

Rooms smell like smoke despite no smoking allowed

Even though smoking is not allowed, some of the rooms carry a lingering odour Room spray just masks the smell, and open windows take quite some time to carry the scent away.

Too much noise heard from outside and in the hotel

The front rooms at Ayrshire & Galloway pick up street and pub noise Walls are thin between the rooms, so loud talking and TV volumes are easily heard.

Hard beds have old mattresses and flat pillows

It's difficult to have a comfortable sleep due to old beds and thin pillows Mattresses are hard or feel like the springs are ready to burst through.
