About Lakewood Cabins

Well-situated just 200 yards from the lakeshore, Lakewood Cabins offers just that, charming self catering cabins among the pine trees.

The nine cabins have rustic décor and range in size from studios to one bedrooms. Each features fully equipped kitchen, separate sleeping and lounge/dining area, TV and much more.

The kids will enjoy simply exploring the grounds, as well as the special play area. For adults, there are great BBQ pits were aspirant chefs can cook up a storm. On a more practical note, there are on-site laundry facilities for guest use.

Those who are not self catering will find a great choice of dining spots nearby. Big Bear Lake has options that range from Denny’s to fantastic and highly rated restaurants like Peppercorn Grille.

In summer, the main attraction is of course the lake, but winter travelers will find Bear Mountain Ski Resort just 3.3 miles from the cabins.

Positive Reviews

Excellent central location

Guests clearly loved the location of the cabins. They reported that they found it easy to walk to both the lake and everywhere in the village they cared to visit. It was so convenient not to have to jump into their car each time they wanted to go to a restaurant or head to the shore.

Great fireplaces

While it certainly isn’t unusual for a cabin to have a fireplace, this didn’t mean that guests couldn’t appreciate them. They were especially welcomed on cold winter nights, and may have been guest’s favorite feature at the resort. Some mentioned that there was even a second fireplace in the bedroom.

Decent value for money

While guests didn’t exactly say that it as the best deal they ever got, most were definitely satisfied with the value they received. They felt they got a decent cabin in a central spot in a beautiful area at a very reasonable rate.

Negative Reviews

Cabins not properly heated

An extraordinary number of winter guests mentioned that, not only was their cabin not warm enough when they arrived, but it was difficult or impossible to get the cabin up to a reasonable temperature with the installed central heating.

Walls need some attention

Specifically, a number of guests mentioned that the internal walls in the cabins needed to be both cleaned and painted. It seems there has been a buildup of dirt, perhaps as a result of wood fires, and guests felt they needed some attention.

Spotty Wi-Fi

While most guests clearly hadn’t traveled to such a beautiful place to stare at their smartphones all the time, some did need to stay in touch with the world beyond. They found that the Wi-Fi was pretty unreliable, with them often not being able to connect.
