Positive Reviews

Lively Place

The Victoria hotel is a pub with bed and breakfast, the staff are friendly, and the bar is lively. A guest felt that the price represents good value A couple were charmed when a staff member moved their own car so that the guests could have a free parking space, they had planned to stay for one night only, but liked the location so much that they stayed an extra night.

Good Food

A guest found the cooked English breakfast, included in the room charge, 'more than filling'. Another liked the arrangement by which one could choose breakfast items the night before, and found that their choices were ready when they came downstairs, and had been cooked beautifully.

Well Kept

A guest who stayed for a week was shown the rooms by the staff, and found them all to be very well kept and clean.

Negative Reviews

Noises from Off

The noise from the bar is intrusive in the bedrooms, not at all conducive to sleep if one wants an early night. Guests suggested that one should not choose a bedroom located above the bar. The rooms were found to be very much in need of updating, and the shower was temperamental 'Either too hot or too cold'.

Frequent Frying

One of the guests was very much put off by the smell of 'dirty chip pan fat', although they said that the breakfast looked nice. The breakfast was served on bar tables that were sticky, with no table cloths. The cutlery was dirty.

Remember the Keys

There is a cash deposit required against keys, however it was acknowledged that this is a justifiable requirement of the establishment. In conclusion: this is very much a pub location as opposed to a chain hotel environment.
