About Lake Barkley State Resort

Emerging from the forested shoreline of one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, Lake Barkley State Resort is ideal for a quiet and rustic country retreat.

The 120 air-conditioned bedrooms and suites come with private balconies, many of which overlook the lake. There are a variety of accommodation types available for different group compositions, including rooms for up to eight people, as well as some self-catering cottages.

Lake Barkley State Resort offers plentiful on-site parking and free Wi-Fi. There is also an outdoor pool, fitness centre, meeting facilities, and an outdoor tennis court.

The complex’s restaurant, Windows on the Water, with its glass-walled structure, offers panoramic views over Lake Barkley from all corners of the room. It is renowned for its hearty home cooking prepared with local produce.

The marina is about a 15-minute walk from the resort, whilst the Land Between the Lakes recreational area is just over 15 minutes away by car. Prizer Point and Donaldson Creek are about 40 minutes' drive away.

Positive Reviews

Beautiful rural retreat

Travellers seeking a slow-paced break and some peace and quiet appreciate the lovely country surroundings here. Guests love the delightful setting of the hotel and the marvellous views from their cabins over the lake. Hiking is a real pleasure, too, with some nice and uncrowded trails to explore. There is also a great pool area to relax in.

Tasty wholesome food

The restaurant has maintained its good reputation, built up for many years, for delicious food at a relatively good price. There is a wide selection of food served every day and diners say it's tasty and plentiful.

Friendly staff

The hotel’s personnel, especially the front desk staff, are well liked by guests thanks to their pleasant and courteous nature. Guests report that these friendly workers are very helpful and reactive too.

Negative Reviews

Rooms in need of updating

Guests claim that accommodations at this resort have changed little since the 1970s and could do with bringing into the 21st century. Providing a fridge and microwave would be a good start, guests remark, as well as improving the lighting and decoration.

Maintenance issues

The complex is starting to look rundown and decayed, guests report. The garden, tennis court, and games room are among the facilities that are considered to be in a poor state of repair.
