Positive Reviews

A good base for exploring the city

Travellers generally love the location, noting that though the train station is just five minutes away on foot, the neighbourhood is quiet at night. Most guests can reportedly walk to the city centre's famous shopping arcade and colleges in about 15-20 minutes. The Botanic Garden, Fitzwilliam Museum, and a handful of friendly pubs and restaurants are also within very easy reach on foot. The area is well served by buses, too.

Clean, cosy rooms with the basics

The guest rooms are widely described as simple and cosy, with a very good standard of housekeeping and a few homey touches such as biscuits to go along with the tea and coffee facilities. Travellers who like soft mattresses find the beds particularly comfortable.

Friendly, helpful staff

The reception personnel are often described as warm and friendly. Guests also appreciate the choice of a cooked or continental breakfast, and those with dietary restrictions generally find the chef accommodates their needs cheerfully.

Negative Reviews

A tight spot for drivers

Drivers warn their fellow travellers that the parking costs extra and must be booked in advance to guarantee a place, as the spaces are limited.

No extra room in the en-suite

While the guest room sizes vary, guests frequently describe the en-suite bathrooms as very small, with very little space to set toiletries. Tall travellers assigned to rooms with sloping ceilings find them uncomfortably cramped.
