Positive Reviews

Fantastic historic property.

The Volunteer Inn Chipping Campden is the ideal accommodation choice for travellers interested in the local history of the area as the building itself dates back to the 17th Century. Much of the inn still features original stone walls and beams and guests who book specifically for the Cotswold Way really appreciate the sense of tradition.

Pub is a highlight.

The traditional English pub serves a wide selection of local beers and cask ales and is really the highlight of the property. An interesting side note, the inn draws its name from the fact that the pub was the place where local men would volunteer for armed service.

Friendly staff with local knowledge.

Staff are friendly and well-versed in local history and can easily assist new travellers to the area in which historic landmarks to visit first, where to get great souvenirs and where best to enjoy local traditions.

Negative Reviews

Early breakfast service times.

The inn serves breakfast somewhat earlier than some guests may be used to. Not only does the breakfast service, not allow for a late sleep-in - it also last only an hour which can make guests feel slightly rushed

No parking and some Wi-Fi issues.

Due to the historic design of the building, right next to the road, there is no actual secure parking facilities available. Guests travelling by car must park next to the pavement in front of the inn. Despite advertising free Wi-Fi in rooms, most guests note that there is very limited signal which can be very frustrating.

Expect some noise at night.

The Volunteer Inn is traditionally built around the pub which is the heart of the property. The pub can get quite noisy at night, something guests need to take in to account. If noise is a particular problem it is advisable to book well-away from the pub area.
