About Dingle Harbour

The fishing industry in Dingle has its origins in the Great Famine (1845-1849) but only started to develop fast during the 1870's when migratory mackerel arrived in the bay area and a fleet was developed.
Today the scenic harbour of the town is not only home to fishing boats but also offers maritime tourism, with ferry boats to the Great Blasket Islands, a yachting marina, an Ocean World aquarium and more.
Fungi, a wild Bottlenose Dolphin, who moved into the bay in 1986 and has since become a tourist magnet, Dolphin tours to see Fungi up and close are available.
