About Samphire Hoe

Have you ever wondered what happened to all the rock which was dug up to create the Channel Tunnel? Together Eurotunnel and the White Cliffs Countryside Project put the 4.9 million cubic metres of rock to good use and created Samphire Hoe as a new strip of land along the Kent coast.

Visitors to the Hoe will find it a dramatic location from which to view the famous White Cliffs of Dover and to enjoy a peaceful walk amongst the wildflowers and sea birds or try a bit of see angling. A marked path follows a 2km route around the How which is accessible to wheelchair users.

Access to the Hoe is free although there is a Pay and Display car park. Opening hours are from 7 am until dusk, year round. Fishing permits are available from the Tea Kiosk which is open at weekends.
