About Sanderling Resort

With the ocean on one side and the sound on the other, guests at The Sanderling Resort are surrounded by water. This luxury Outer Banks resort is a former hunting lodge.

Every room at The Sanderling Resort has a balcony and some of those with views of the water. They are each furnished with a TV with cable, free Wi-Fi, microwave, and designer toiletries.

The resort offers two pools, a family pool and their tranquility pool, which is only available to guests who are 21 and older. Kitty Hawk Kites has an on-property kiosk where adventurous guests can book surfing lessons, kiteboarding, and more. Sanderling’s spa offers a variety of treatments to help their guests.

There are three restaurants on-property including a poolside bar and fine dining.

From there, guests are just a short drive for the shops and restaurants on the Duck boardwalk and historical attractions like Currituck Lighthouse.

There's so much to do

Previous guests found no shortage of activities to occupy the whole family during their vacation here. On the resort itself, there's the ocean and sound access, fire pits, three restaurants, and two pools. Outside the resort, guests can enjoy the small town feel of Duck, and take it the many shops and eateries on the boardwalk. There's also a Kitty Hawk Kites kiosk on-site, from which guests can book hang gliding, surf lessons, parasailing, and other adventures. .

Their customer service is excellent

Guests were very happy with the service they received at this resort. Their reviews said the employees quite professional, and always greeted guests with a smile. They were also quite helpful with recommendations and directions. .

The spa is lovely

For many guests, a visit to the spa was the best part of their stay. The treatments offered there are of the highest quality, and they are done in a tranquil and relaxing setting. .

It may be a little overpriced

Seasoned travelers found the prices at The Sanderling to be on par with luxury brands. However, they felt that the quality did not quite compare. For the price they paid, they would have appreciated a few more amenities and premium room features.

Be careful you get the view you wanted

Quite a few guests were disappointed by the view from their guestroom windows. While some rooms have spectacular views of the water, others only look out to the sand dunes. Some guests unwittingly booked these dune-view rooms, and felt that they were mislead at the time of booking. .

You might skip The Sandbar restaurant

The Sanderling has three restaurants, two of which generally receive positive reviews, but guests who ate at The Sandbar were frequently displeased. They found the food to be cooked well, but lacking flavor and overpriced. .
