About Adelphi

The Adelphi is a renovated Georgian town house set in the Edinburgh dock district of Leith. It overlooks Leith Links, the former 1700’s golf course where the game as we know it evolved and is within 1.5 miles of both the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.

All rooms at this guest house come with free toiletries and facilities to make tea and coffee, as well as a high definition LED TV and Wi-Fi on surcharge.

The Adelphi offers guests ticket and tour booking assistance and paid Wi-Fi is also available in the lobby.

Continental breakfast is offered as an extra and a good Scottish bistro, tapas restaurant and Indian/Thai food can be found within 10 minutes’ walk.

Guests can see the Royal Yacht Britannia berthed in Leith, just one mile away and the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre and Palace of Holyroodhouse lie within two miles.

Positive Reviews

Convenient location for exploring Edinburgh

All of the attractions of the Leith area of Edinburgh are within walking distance from the guest house Good public transport connections mean that your 1 5 mile trip to the city’s main attractions is quickly achieved.

Positive and friendly staff happy to help

The young and friendly staff at the Adelphi is polite, helpful and ready to extend a warm welcome, even if English language proficiency is always not the best.

You get what you pay for

Facilities at the Adelphi are very basic, but given the low prices, you can not expect too much more than simple lodgings.

Negative Reviews

Cold and mould to watch out for

You may find your stay at the Adelphi a little chilly, as heating against the Scottish cold is not always effective and mould in the rooms and bathrooms is not unheard of Strange smells have also been reported by guests, usually in relation to the damp.

Old and in need of TLC

The Georgian townhouse has been renovated to its current-day use as a hotel, but loose floorboards, spartan dormitory-style furnishings and drafty window frames means you could find it in need of a face-lift.

Only one toilet per floor

With all rooms on each floor sharing the same toilet, you could find yourself queuing for the loo in the morning, so perhaps consider other alternatives if you need your own space.

Extras will cost you

If you find yourself wanting to take advantage of the Adelphi breakfast or to use the Wi-Fi, be aware you will face extra charges for this There is also a surcharge if you want check in after normal front desk opening hours.
