Positive Reviews

Walking distance to city centre

Guests were surprising complimentary about the B&B's location. It is not right in central Edinburgh, but this area can be reached either by bus, or after a 25-odd minute walk. Most guests seemed to have opted for the later. In any event, the location a bit out of the centre seemed to be of no consequence for the guests.

Friendly and informative hosts

Guests couldn't speak more highly of the hosts, Stuart and Catherine, who were described as incredibly informative, whether regarding practical matters like bus timetables, or more serious matters like choosing the best pub in the area.

Excellent breakfast

Not only did guests enjoy the breakfast offered, which was described as plentiful and tasty, but they also appreciated the flexibility the hosts offered with setting the time. Early and late risers never felt as if they would have to miss out.

Negative Reviews

Very steep stairs up to the room

The reviews of Glendevon Central were overwhelmingly positive. Finding negative ones was like finding a needle in a haystack, and then immediately finding another. One thing that was mentioned was that, like in many Victorian terrace houses, the stairs leading up to the bedrooms were exceptionally steep.

Bathrooms across the hall

The private bathrooms of two of the rooms are not en-suite, but across the hall. While guests don't exactly complain about this, it can present awkward moments, especially in the mornings when guests wanted to use the facilities but were still in their pyjamas.

No on-site parking

While not often mentioned, a few motorists did point out that there was no on-site parking. There was open parking in the street, but of course availability was determined by how many other people needed parking in the area at that time.
